Tuesday was a great day for media in Lake Placid! Margaret from the Visitors Bureau organized a whitewater rafting trip on the Indian and Hudson Rivers for a photographer and journalist from Kingston, Ontario. We filled the boat with other local journalists from the Plattsburgh Press-Republican, the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, and the Adirondack Explorer, as well as a few friends who tagged along for the ride.
Our very animated river guide Wayne Failing of Middle Earth Expeditions assured that the trip was never boring. He entertained us with stories, music, Adirondack folklore and jokes on the flats and guided us safely through the thrilling class III rapids.
We couldn't have asked for a better day: the sun was shining, the birds were singing and the whole group was in great spirits. After 17 miles of winding through the wilderness on our raft, the picnic lunch that waited for us was the perfect end to a perfect day. Another exhilarating Adirondack outdoor adventure!
Hopefully this trip will generate some media buzz and publicity for Wayne as well as showcase to our visitors the spectacular scenery of the Hudson River Gorge.
