Last weekend, Lake Placid was visited by three journalists from Quebec on assignment to write about our area. We hosted Juliette Ruer, an editor from Style de Vie, which has 6 issues a year and is distributed all over the province of Quebec with a circulation of 1,400,000, Sophie Gagnon, an editor from Virage, a monthly magazine for people 55 and older with a circulation of 100,000, and Carole Andree Laniel from Radio Canada, Tout le Monde en Parle, which is one of the most well-known TV shows in Quebec with 1.5 million viewers.
Our guests stayed at the Crown Plaza, dined in restaurants all over town, and experienced some of our premier attractions like the Lake Placid Boat Tour and a drive up the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway. The highlight of the trip was learning how to fly-fish on the Ausable River with a licensed Adirondack guide. Jones Outfitters took the four journalists on a morning excursion to Wilmington where they donned waders and tried their best to catch a fish.
Overall it was a great weekend with near-perfect weather, and the journalists enjoyed their stay. Once again, we worked with Canadian public relations expert Elizabeth Boileau to bring media attention to Lake Placid. She is helping us to reach our French-speaking visitors on the other side of the border.
