The Essex County Fair kicked off on Wednesday with a Milk-off between eight of the county's supervisors sponsored by the Essex County Visitor's Bureau. Dan Connell of Westport took first place, earning the most points for both volume of milk and style. Noel Merrihew of Elizabethtown came in a close second. All participating supervisors were given honorable recognition for their part. Those media in attendance for the competition were: Brian Mann of North Country Public Radio, Rebecca Steffan of the Adirondack Daily Enterprise, Reporter Jack LaDuke of WPTZ Channel 3 News, Whitney Jackson of Tri-Lakes Denton Publications.
