
This year Ironman USA Lake Placid will surpass 20,000 participants bringing in just under $100 million dollars in direct spending during its first 10 years in Lake Placid.
Additionally Ironman USA Lake Placid continually inspires our youth, promoting friendly competition and an active and healthy life style.
Ironman USA Lake Placid also serves as a major national sports marketing tool for Lake Placid and the ADK's annually bringing in participants from all 50 states with most participant having articles written about their trip to compete in the event.
The trialthalon exposes Lake Placid on an international level as well, regularly featuring participants from over 20 nations.
It is with that in mind that to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the largest single day event in the ADK's, 2 local business owners, 2 elected public officials, and CEO of NA Sports spoke this past Tuesday morning at the Olympic Oval in downtown Lake Placid.
The speakers were:
Chris Ericson - owner of the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery and Chairman of the Branding Committee
Jill Cardinale - Co-owner of the Pines Inn
Graham Fraser - CEO of NA Sports
Jay Rand - Deputy Supervisor for the Town of North Elba
and Mayor Jaime Rogers
Speakers touched on the positive effect Ironman USA Lake Placid has had on Lake Placid business, moral, fitness, and exposure. While Graham Fraser announced NA Sports' gift to the community ~ A 400,000 project to build a year round sports surface on the shores of Mirror Lake. The surface will be frozen in the cooler months for ice skating and hockey type activities, while in the warmer months hosting activities such as basketball, ball hockey, lacrosse, etc.
