Lake Placid announces Holiday Village Stroll Weekend

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - - A festive holiday spirit, twinkling lights and unique Adirondack holiday decorations will all come together during the first-ever Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll, Dec. 5-7. Designed to appeal to everyone - singles, couples and families alike - Lake Placid is looking forward to turning the Holiday Village Stroll Weekend into an annual event for visitors and residents to enjoy for many years to come.

“Winter comes early up here in the mountains and our warm, festive atmosphere makes it hard not to get into the holiday spirit… a weekend dedicated to encouraging visitors to do the same is a perfect fit for us,” says Village of Lake Placid Mayor Jamie Rogers.

The Holiday Village Stroll Weekend will include fun, child-oriented activities as well as a lively nightlife. Families will delight in the variety of children’s activities and special events, and couples and singles will surely appreciate the fine specialty shopping and gourmet food, as well as the various evening entertainment options.

Highlights of Holiday Stroll Weekend include:

•Free skating and skate rentals at the Olympic Oval on Friday night complete with complimentary hot chocolate, a skating show and holiday characters on ice.

•“Shopping with a Cause” – On Friday night, participating stores will stay open late and donate 10 % of their proceeds to the North Elba Christmas Fund.

•Local choir groups and carolers will add to the festive, holiday atmosphere all weekend long.

•On Saturday, Santa will arrive on Main Street in an old-fashioned fire truck; kids will enjoy complimentary hot chocolate, cookies and a chance to talk to Santa.

•On Sunday, a free matinee at the Palace Theatre, beginning at 11 a.m.

•Specialty shops will be offering extra incentives and treats such as free gift wrapping, hot apple cider, book signings, trunk shows, later store hours, etc.

•Restaurants will be featuring happy hours, wine tastings, gourmet food samplings and live music throughout the weekend.

•Complimentary holiday crafts and story times as well a variety of free holiday movies will be offered throughout the weekend at different times and locations.
